Community Guidelines
Brain Bout is a place to test your brain against real people — not to be put down by them. These guidelines apply everywhere players interact, including party chat and category discussion boards. They are part of our Terms of Service.
Our standard
Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. Harassment, hate, and content that targets or endangers other players have no place on Brain Bout. We act on it — fast.
1Play with respect
Compete hard, but treat every player the way you'd want to be treated. Good sportsmanship, curiosity, and a little trash talk in good fun are welcome. Cruelty is not.
2What is not allowed
Do not post, send, or share content that is:
- Harassment or bullying — targeting, threatening, intimidating, or repeatedly contacting someone who doesn't want it.
- Hate speech — attacking or demeaning people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or similar traits.
- Violent or dangerous — threats of violence, incitement, or promotion of self-harm.
- Sexual or explicit — pornographic content, or any sexual content involving minors (which we report to authorities).
- Illegal — content that promotes illegal activity, or infringes others' rights.
- Spam or scams — unsolicited advertising, phishing, links to malware, or fraud.
- Impersonation or doxxing — pretending to be someone else, or sharing someone's private information.
- Cheating chatter — sharing answers mid-match, or coordinating to rig results or rankings.
3How to report
Seeing something that breaks these rules? Tell us — reports go straight to our moderation team.
Report content or a player
- Tap and hold the message, post, or tap the player's name.
- Choose Report.
- Pick a reason and add detail if you can.
- Submit — our team reviews it.
Block a player
- Open the player's profile or tap their name.
- Choose Block.
- They can no longer chat with or challenge you.
- Manage blocked players anytime in Settings.
You can also email privacy@brainbout.app with details (and screenshots, if helpful) for anything urgent or serious. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
4How we enforce
We review reports and may act on content proactively. Depending on the severity and pattern of behavior, enforcement may include:
- Content removal — deleting the offending message or post.
- Warnings — a notice explaining what crossed the line.
- Feature limits — temporarily muting chat or restricting posting.
- Temporary suspension — a time-limited ban from the app.
- Permanent ban — closing the account for serious or repeated violations.
The most serious violations — threats, sexual content involving minors, or content that endangers others — can result in an immediate permanent ban and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement. We aim to act consistently, but we reserve the right to remove content and accounts at our discretion to keep the community safe, as described in our Terms of Service.
5Appeals
Believe we got it wrong? Email privacy@brainbout.app from your account email and tell us what happened. We'll take another look.
Remember
Brain Bout is for players aged 13 and older. Keep it fair, keep it kind, and help us make this a place worth coming back to.
